Eating clean is a popular term that refers to consuming whole, unprocessed foods and avoiding processed and refined foods. Here are some simple guidelines for eating clean:

Focus on whole, unprocessed foods

Choose foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. This includes whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. These types of foods are typically more nutrient-dense and provide your body with the fuel it needs to function properly.

Avoid processed and refined foods

Processed and refined foods are often high in added sugars, unhealthy fats, and artificial ingredients. They can contribute to weight gain and increase the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Instead of reaching for processed snacks, opt for whole, unprocessed foods like nuts, seeds, and fruit.

Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are loaded with nutrients that are essential for good health. Aim to consume a variety of different colors and types to get a wide range of nutrients. Consider incorporating more vegetables into your meals by adding them to soups, salads, and stir-fries, or eating them as a snack with hummus or avocado dip.

Choose lean proteins

Lean proteins like chicken, turkey, fish, beans, and tofu are an important part of a clean eating plan. These types of proteins are typically lower in saturated fat and calories and are a good source of essential amino acids that your body needs to function properly.

Limit added sugars and unhealthy fats

Added sugars and unhealthy fats can contribute to weight gain and increase the risk of chronic diseases. Limiting your intake of these types of nutrients can help you maintain a healthy weight and improve your overall health. Choose whole, unprocessed foods that are naturally low in added sugars and unhealthy fats, and avoid foods that are high in these nutrients.

Don’t Forget About Hydration

Drinking plenty of water is important for maintaining good health. Aim to drink at least 8 cups of water per day, and more if you are physically active or live in a hot climate. Water can help keep you hydrated, flush out toxins, and support healthy digestion.

Eating clean can help you feel your best and support good health. By focusing on whole, unprocessed foods and avoiding processed and refined foods, you can nourish your body with the nutrients it needs to thrive.
